Anne Hathaway Gets Her Chic Revenge
Poor Anne Hathaway. As if it weren't tough enough to promote Get Smart in the wake of dumping her skeevy jailed boyfriend, she had to grapple with last weekend's spate of splashy tabloid headlines about her love life: "The Princess and the Con-Man" on People's cover, and the touchingly subtle "BURNED BY A LOSER" from Us Weekly. If we'd had a month — or even a week — like that, we'd be on day eight of watching Ocean's Eleven while eating only ice cream and not brushing our hair. Instead, Anne has risen from the ashes looking like the proverbial $21 million bucks her ex needs to post bail. More on her current relationship drama:
From 2004 until June 2008, Hathaway was in a relationship with Italian real estate developer Raffaello Follieri.[7][36] On June 24, 2008, Follieri was arrested on fraud charges for allegedly fleecing investors out of millions of dollars in a phony scheme involving purchasing Catholic properties in the U.S. for re-development. The FBI alleged that he posed as a financial representative of the Vatican and had duped people into investing in his fraudulent fund as recently as May 2008. Court papers state that Hathaway was an unwitting beneficiary of the stolen money which had in large part paid for Follieri's opulent lifestyle of jet-setting, shopping sprees and fine dining. The judge in the case set bail at $21 million with a stipulation that Follieri must remain under house arrest upon being released on bond. Currently, Hathaway is not facing charges nor is under any investigation in regards to these allegations.
Steve Carell even tried to bring humor and comfort to Hathaway from the onslaught of negative press regarding her depressing situation with Follieri. Carrell interjected on the questions for Hathaway relating to Follieri at an Italian press conference on July 8th, 2008. The press conference was for the Italian premiere of "Get Smart," which both Carrell and Hathaway starred in. Carrell told press, "In my role of agent [for] Miss Hathaway, I would like to say that she does not answer questions relating to this subject."

Usually I find girls with larger facial features like big eyes to be attractive, but she just looks freakish to me. Plus she has a prima donna attitude that puts me off.

I love legs. I love Anne's legs. I think she's beautiful. She's right on the edge of being not beautiful, but she never seems to fall over. She reminds me of a girl I had a crush on. She worked at Ogilve and Mather in NYC. She tried out for the Rockettes and made it to the final round of auditions before being cut. She taught me how to make gaucamole without using a store bough mix packet. She invited me to the Whitney Museum. She had perfect posture and he father had recently died of skin cancer (diagnosis to death: 2 months). There was always the slight smell of melancholy wafting off of her, and it made her beauty seem un-earthly at six-thirty in the morning while sitting in the back of a cab while the sun rose over the Empire State building. This is who I think of when I see Anne Hathaway, she of the ridiculously long white stems.
