Ever since images from an ad campaign for L'Oréal Paris in the September issue of Elle hit news stands earlier this week, bloggers and critics have been claiming that the pictures appear to have been altered to give the singer lighter skin. If pale people are allowed to get tans, darker people should be allowed to wear lightners.

I read that Beyonce's mum said that she is really beautiful but there are other beautiful ppl out there. Just don't stand next to them.
Now that was nice for the DC group and she was next to Milla Jovovich in a Loreal ad. No way was this woman prettier than her.

Let me clear something up. My reply was only meant to address your saying, "there's absolutely nothing special about her", not the "overrated" part.
I agree that Beyonce's overrated... extremely so. However, people in that game, with "nothing special" going for theirselves, don't aquire the status she enjoys. You have your one hit wonders (Amerie, Christina Milian, Ciara) and your weave brushers (Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, Latoya Luckett) who get their 15 minutes - are as talented and fine as the likes of Bey, Rihanna and Keyshia Cole, if not moreso - but they just can't seem to get over that hump. Why???
Because Bey has all this¹:
and they don't... not even Rih or Keyshia.
That's what makes her special... not her looks, vocal ability or bootyliciousness, because that combination of traits is fleeting and can be found in almost any church choir, jazz club or high school talent show.

Yes, Beyonce wears a weave and she chooses to wear blonde hair. She's been wearing that hair color for a decade now and she obviously doesn't give a fuck about what any of you have to say. Secondly, tell me ONE black woman who has left their hair nappy(natural textured) and without a weave who is MORE famous/sucessful than Beyonce? Can't name one. It's just undesired. That's because all of you assholes would NOT accept her the way her hair truly is(no matter how many times you deny it) Let's face it european-features dominates our media. Beyonce has never once said "Oh, never wear weaves cause it takes away from who you are." But she campaigns for independence in women in most of her non-commercial songs.
