Portman Honored As Humanitarian
The actress Natalie Portman was honored at the Venice Film Festival on Sunday, BBC News reported. She is the first recipient of the Movie for Humanity Award, intended for film artists who devote themselves to humanitarian causes. Ms. Portman, 27, received $50,000 as part of the prize, which was announced at the Kineo Italian Movie Awards. She will donate it to the Tacare Girl’s Scholarship Program in Tanzania, part of the Jane Goodall Institute. The actress is making her directorial debut at the festival, with the short film “Eve.” [NY Times]

She may not be a good actress, but she's definitely not a slut. Perhaps a little self absorbed, yes, but that's expected. She should just focus on academia and forget about acting since she's got plenty of money now.

I still think her best film role was probably in Léon, but then Jean Reno and Gary Oldman carried that film anyway. I haven't been overly impressed with anything she's done since then. Cute though. And smart.
