Nicole Kidman To Play A Transexual in "The Danish Girl"

In what appears to be one of those late-career transformational roles, Nicole Kidman has signed up to play a controversial role of Einar Wegener, a male artist who underwent a painful "chopping-off" surgery to become a woman back in 1931, The Hollywood Reporter said. It was also reported that Charlize Theron is expected to play Wegener's spouse in the film. Naturally, this sets the stage for a classic, star-powered Bastardly Scissoring Scene between Nicole Kidman & Charlize Theron, so look for this to be one of the film's main selling points---assuming the film's marketing/creative team is thinking along kinky, yet highly lucrative, lines.

The flick is also produced by Nicole Kidman, so she's putting a lot on the line on this project. We have a feeling this will be one of those films which will either go straight into the box-office dumpster or possibly reward the actresses w/ Oscars.
