Noel Gallagher Needs To Shut Up & Bounce To The Beat

Photo Credit: GA-MD/bauergriffinonline.comI've never attended the Glastonbury Festival in England, so I have no idea who the hell typically attends, but I think Jay-Z is getting bashed for no reason. At the heart of it all, Jay-Z's just a great business man & like any great business man, he's merely following the money...
Organizers of one of Britain's best-known music festivals on Tuesday defended their decision to book Jay-Z as their headline act after Oasis songwriter Noel Gallagher blamed the rapper for disappointing ticket sales.
The outdoor Glastonbury fest is a cornerstone of Britain's music calendar. But it has yet to sell out this year, in contrast to past years when tickets were snapped up within hours.
Gallagher, whose band headlined the festival in 1995 and 2004, said rap was to blame.
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it," Gallagher said in an interview, an audio of which was posted to the British Broadcasting Corp.'s Web site Monday. "If you break it, people ain't gonna go. I'm sorry, but Jay-Z? ... No chance." [Yahoo!]

Not the cutest man but I love the way he dresses. He got a nice swagger to him. Lol.

well I know I'm going to stir up a lot of contraversy with this remark, but I hate rap, and all the people that has anything to do with it....including this dude of course..and also would like to add that I think all those that consider rap as music, are delusive.

Awww thats not nice Mundo. Why do you hate it so much??

Ugly face and skinny legs. Since I'm totally jealous that he has tons of money and is bangin' Beyonce, I'll call him a faggot.

I don't hate it, I just don't consider it music at all....just a lot of earpounding noise, and lot of blah blah, which most of the time makes no sense at all...always with the same beat, through the whole thing, that is very obnoxious. Maybe I'm old fashion, but still, that is not music to me...

i agree with noel gallagher. glastonbury has always been rock first and foremost. changing it has obviously disappointed the fans and it shows with poor ticket sales. it has nothing to do with being racist or whatever, it's just not the style of music that people associate with this festival. i wouldn't buy tickets either.

then why would anyone in their right mind hire a hip hop artist to headline?! All I'm saying is that Jay-z's obviously doing it for the dough, but the blame should go on the dumbass organizers.
Reply to this Comment
"but the blame should go on the dumbass organizers." i'm pretty sure that's what gallagher meant when he referred to jay-z, as in: why get him?. i agree he's talented etc, and yes there have been 'hip-hop' acts in glastonbury before (never headlining, and jay-z is definitely more rap than hip-hop and the previous acts were more rock/hip-hop anyway) but in my mind, it just doesn't fit.

i am going to marry noel gallagher and his brother liam gallagher... and he was right about this too

i feel rap has gotten so bad i can't even defend it anymore. especially when artists like soulja boy and other south side artists that can't rap for shit and do talk a whole load of bollocks for 3 minutes on a track are about.
but Mundo rap hates you too, so your even...

Gallagher was dead on. It was beyond stupid for the organizers to pick fucking Jay-Z to headline a rock festival. Rock and rap are not interchangeable.

so would these same people and commenters have a problem if it was eminem headlining the concert?

and anyone who knows rap/hiphop(there is no difference morons) knows that the bullshit they put on tv is not the best of quality. its put on tv to make money, to appeal to broader/pop audiences. thats when rap lost.
its just like nobody believes that avril lavinge or the Jonas brothers are great musicians but they appeal to a broad audience, most of whom dont know anything.

You seem to be another person who doesn't understand hip hop so you hate it. Yeah you hate rap, but rap and hip hop are two different things these days. Hip Hop is what it started out as, ignorant ass rap is what it is become. Hip Hop is in words the same as Rock n Roll, a music of rebellion. Hip Hop has been mis - represented by foolish ignorant ass people in the media and everyday life.
As far as you saying, its not music, well thats just your opinion. Ask any song writer, no matter whether its country, rock, hip hop, or whatever how hard it can be to apply words to a rhythm and see what they tell you. Even more have those words rhyme, and its just that much harder. RAP is just the same as all music RAP ( Rhythmic Applied Poetry) vocals put to a rhythm.
I think though alot of your hatred comes from not understanding. Hip Hop isn't what it was like in the Run DMC days. Where it was cool to actually be smart. Now its all pseudo tough guy macho BS. Its all gangsters or gangster wannabes. For example I have noticed in the media, they will never talk to a very intelligent hip hop artist (Conscience rappers) someone like RZA of the Wu Tang clan, Immortal Technique, or Mos Def, who they know will speak with intelligence and diligence. Instead they go and get the dumbest bastard they can find. for example
youtube.com/watch?v=5oLGjhpY9jM
that was a example of dumbasses representing rap. now listen to these interviews from real artist

oh yea and to those of you who have never seen a Jay-Z concert live you are missing out. the man uses a live band, similar to his performance on MTV unplugged. its a great show all around.

Thanks ball of doom what you said makes a lot of sense...I'm just sort of ignorant of todays music I guess...as you would probably would've guess by now, my generation was in the 60's 70's and even 80's, so that type of music has long been gone...and what I have heard, specially on the radio, or on tv, just doesn't grab my attention...and even tho I might be wrong, but this rapster that I have heard only talk about violence, and hatred..of course I might be listening to the wrong stuff, too. But anyway. thanks...Everyone is entitled to his or her own choice of music, or noise, whatever...so I'll just sit back and listen to my oldies...like me. Lol...and it's nice to chat with you people. Thanks again.

Does anyone remember in 2004 when 50 cent was booked to headline the Reading Festival? The Reading Festival being a primarily rock only festival in England such as the Glastonbury Festival. Well he didnt get a chance to really perform because as soon as he hit the stage he got booed and he got pelted with bottles and cups full of piss. Rap or Hip-Hop does not have a place on these European rock festivals and espiecially not a headlining slot.

very well said 14 & 15!!!
i agree that jay z shouldn't be headlining Glastonbury, maybe be on the bill but definitely not headlining. if there were an Indie band headlining a rap concert , that wouldn't go down well either.
a couple years ago 50 Cent performed at a similar festival in the UK and he didn't even last a whole song before the crowd started booing and throwing bottles and burgers and stuff at him. 50 Cent got payed something stupid like £500,000 (or might of been $500,000) and said:
"for they kinda money they can throw all the bottles they want at me"

I hate most rap 'music'. I'm not saying all of it is bad because I haven't heard it all but the ones that I have heard and seen repulse me esp the ones that they show on the music channels.
RAP= Retards attempting poetry.

The guy running the thing has tried to bring in a younger crowd by signing Jay-Z as a headliner but in the process has alienated a few of the old regulars who prefer guitar based music.
Not racist just a difference in taste.

I know nothing about rap music or this geezer, but I know Glastonbury is not a hip-hop crowd. I like his outfit anyway.
I'd like those Gallagher brothers to headline my festival for a couple of hours. Wahey!

Glastonbury turning into a rap festival? That's just not right.

Come on, where's the racism ? No racism can be found at his affirmation, he only said what everyone who usually attended Glastonbury could say, you cannot mix rap into a Rock festival, and just to remember that when they invited Fugees, they were on top, hitting charts everywhere

And anyway, rap/hip hop in essence was Run DMC, Public Enemy and so
The rest is pretend machos, trying to pose as pimps

In no way is Oasis a Beatles nock-off, not at all. They couldn't sustain, but that was Liam not being able to lay off the sauce. The problem w/ Gbury is it rains the whole damn time and I think people are tired of being out in the weather & mud.
