Mariska Magdolna Hargitay (born January 23, 1964) is a Golden Globe- and Emmy Award- winning American actress, best known for her role as Det. Olivia Benson on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Hargitay also has worked with the Mount Sinai Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention program; NBC's “The More You Know” campaign; Safe Horizon; Santa Monica Rape Crisis Treatment Center; Project ALS; Girl Scouts of the USA; and the James Redford Institute for Transplant Awareness. She appeared with her baby, August, in a Got Milk? ad in January 2007.

You're right about the cast. When Fin hit Olivia with the billy club, and drew blood, you could really see the regret he was feeling. That was acting on top of acting. The little girl was a damn good actress, too.
SVU has become my favorite. The other two have gone thru too many changes.

So true. I was on edge the entire episode, screaming at Fin to find Olivia, screaming at the pervert CO.
I lost interest in the original when Logan left, but I'll watch CI whenever possible. I know Goren is weird, but he's so cool and has great chemistry with Eames.

Goren and Eames are the only duo I can watch. The best episodes are the ones featuring Nicole Wallace (Olivia d'Abo) who always calls Goren "Bobby", with that cute British accent of hers. She's chilling yet seductive at the same time. The two newer partners are growing on me, but they're not quite there yet.

He's a great character actor. I don't know if you've ever seen Adventures in Babysitting, but he was the mechanic that looked like Thor. And, of course, he was in Full Metal Jacket(?) and Men In Black. He looks different in every movie, but he's always intense. I find him incredibly sexy.
She was on Oz, which is where a bunch of the L&O actors came from. Her character made you loathe and pity her at the same time. She reminds me of Lori Loughlin for some reason.
Olivia d'Abo is fantastic. I love her CI character. She's another one that I loathe and pity.
The others are also starting to grow on me, too. I don't like change, so it'll take a while.

Yeah, I noticed that Oz/SVU connection right away... didn't realize Eames was on there, though.

Kathryn Erbe was Shirley, the psycho that killed her children and chose hanging as her execution. She's such a good actress.
I forgot about Strange Days. He's so versatile and awesome.
