CD review: Vanessa HudgensThe follow-up to her 2006 debut, "V," "Identified" is marked by a lot of energy and creative arrangements, even if the songwriting is predictable. "Last Night," the first cut, is also one of its best, sizzling with Bollywood-inflected percussion, which reappears on the quasi hip-hop "Hook It Up." By the album's title song, Hudgens seems to be huffing helium, and her voice disappears in a kind of aural haze that crops up throughout the album. Even some of the better songs, such as "Don't Leave" and "Party on the Moon," could have been better if Hudgens' voice hadn't been overproduced. SF Gate
