Did you see Rachel Getting Married? You know, the movie that Anne Hathaway received an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. Well, the DVD has just been released and here a brief on the movie.But Rachel Getting Married is never a show of vanity for Demme, or a (what would turn out to be futile, anyway) stab by Hathaway at netting a best actress Oscar. It's a movie that makes you believe in love, and in the intractable bonds of family, even as it might appear to tear down the very tenets of both. It's about those vital subjects, taken far beyond the conceptual and rendered utterly flawed utterly human. On film, such states rarely look so painful, or so viscerally relatable. Source
