Kate Beckinsale Killin' It In 2012: "Contraband," New "Underworld" & "Total Recall"

Our favorite Hollywood mommy Kate Beckinsale was seen out & about yesterday afternoon doing some holiday shopping at Fred Segal in Los Angeles. The always-beautiful English actress has finally finished her various upcoming projects & as a result, 2012 is looking like a great year.

Right off the bat, she has two films hitting theaters in January. First is the action flick "Contraband," which also stars Mark Wahlberg (also one of the film's producers). Releases early in the year are normally junk, but hey, people need something to do, right? Anyway, here's more about the plot:

Chris Farraday abandoned his life of crime long ago, but after his brother-in-law, Andy, botches a drug deal for his ruthless boss, Tim Briggs, Chris is forced back into doing what he does best -- running contraband -- to settle Andy's debt. Things quickly fall apart and with only hours to reach the cash, Chris must use his rusty skills to successfully navigate a treacherous criminal network of brutal drug lords, cops, and hit men before his wife, Kate, and sons become their target. The week after "Contraband" releases, Kate's more anticipated film in the Underworld series, "Underworld: Awakening" will hit theaters on January 20. The action horror film series has a cult following, so I'm pretty sure it'll continue to do well until Kate's too old to reprise her lead role as Selene. Check the trailer below.



And finally, it would be a shame for us to not mention that Kate's also the lead actress in the upcoming "Total Recall" film, which is a remake of the 1990 original. Kate's lucky-bastard-hubby Len Wiseman will direct the $200 million flick also starring Collin Farrell & Jessica Biel. I can already see this film taking over ComicCon in San Diego next summer...
