today, the north of india comprises mainly of indo-aryans. there have been thousands of years of mixing to result in the "average indian look" today, but there are women, a small portion, but still, 'caucasian' looking women like aishwarya rai. aishwarya is from a place in india called mangalore, and most people from that part of india are light skinned and light eyed. same with people from kashmir, india.

Mixing between the British and Indians was very rare and the few mixed people that resulted in the relationships moved to Western Europe after the British left India. A few are still left India, but they have Anglo surnames, speak English and live in their own communities.

India is divided into two main groups of people. The Indo-Aryans up North are fairer skinned and the majority of them are blue/green eyed, myself included. The Dravidinians down south are usually slightly darker skinned with brown/black eyes. To the person who said 'its really obvious she's mixed with white' - let's put it this way. Aishwarya Rai is a new phenomenon in the Western world, but she's been a leading Bollywood actress for the past twenty three years. My girlfriend wears lenses and they look exactly the same, except there's strikes of green too. They have even more "depth and variation" if you will. There's great contacts lenses today, you just gotta buy quality ones to look natural. So who the hell knows what color are someone's real eyes with today's technologies.

If they were dark then Aishwarya would need to wear completely full coloured lenses which make the pupil tiny. Fact of the matter is there are pictures of her with gapingly large pupils and the blue/green colour still visible which only proves that her eyes are light. Whether they are as intensely green/blue as they are in a lot of he rpictures is somewhat debatable. What with the use of Enhancer lenses by nearly 90% of celebrities these days as well as teh fact that magazine photos just simply arent real.
