On a different note, at the competition this last weekend in Orlando, there were several categories for modeling, and I felt like a piece of meat whenever I stepped out of the hotel room door because every single man and woman in the competition scanned me constantly! I was a guest there with my husband while he was auditioning his original guitar/song pieces, but DAMN! I might as well have been in the fucking competition too because that is how every single chick treated me. Regardless I had a good time, but I never felt so openly judged in my whole life. :)

Some musings, from a fellow Filipino. Let me just say that none of this is intended to be racist... but I'm sure someone will twist it around and make me sound racist anyway.

1.The reason why Asians have "white people names" is because if they had names that reflected their country of origin everyone would misprounounce them anyway or they'd get made fun of (and they do). The last names are frustrating enough; why scar the kid even further and give them a name their non-Asian peers can't pronounce? It all comes down to helping the kid assimilate in American society. For example, my mom made up a name and no one can pronounce it right, so I go by my middle name: the boring but American "Joanne." A lot of Asians have two names - an "Asian" name and a "Western" name - for the same reason.

2. What the hell is everyone's deal with her nose? Filipinos are supposed to have small, wide noses. It's in the racial phenotype. A prominent nose wouldn't look right on her delicate features. (Look at her bone structure.)

3. I do agree with 93 that she is pretty and freshfaced/doesn't show crackwhore tendencies.

4. I agree with 88 about the "trying to be sexy" thing - I hate the pouty look and myspace angles (because everyone does them). Rock the freshfaced look. It's better on you.

5. About contacts: I also did the colour contact thing, and while I love my dark Asian eyes, I thought it would be cool to have my eyes be a different colour. (I don't have them anymore.)
