Bastardly Hot or Not: Jewel @ Dinner for American Civil Liberties Union

From the Wikipedia:

On May 2, 2006, Jewel released her sixth album, Goodbye Alice In Wonderland. The album received mixed reviews, but still managed to debut at #8 on the Billboard Albums Chart. The album sold 82,000 copies in its first week out. The lead single "Again and Again" has had moderate success on Top 40 Radio, peaking at #16. The second single, "Good Day", was released to radio in late June but failed to gain any traction on the radio airplay charts. The album track "Only One Too" has been the subject of several remixes, including a dance version. A CD-single is set to be released on October 10, 2006, according to amazon.com. Recently, a video for "Stephenville, TX", her next single, has been seen on Yahoo! Launch.

As of October 2006, the album has not performed up to expectations, having barely sold 250,000 copies. It is notable in that it is the only Jewel album to not achieve Gold certification.

Yeah, Thumps. I hate civil liberties, too. But don't worry because soon there won't be any left. What a retard.

RETED, uh, retard, uh, Ted:

The ACLU has very little to do w/ protecting true civil liberties, and a lot to do w/ making us all live in their version of a liberal, politically correct, "only say it if it won't hurt anyone's feelings, only do it if it can't possibly offend anyone" kind of world. That is what they really stand for, and I don't go for it.

If there is on thing that isn't bastardly, it's political correctness, and that's what those idiots stand for.

Thumps.....Spoken like a true republican.....Especially while the ACLU is defending our right to not be wire tapped and interogated......Or our right to be able to write statements on the internet without it being tracked down like dogs for saying.....Bush is an idiot.
What has any of us done to defend the civil rights of ourselves and others?
It may be easy to sit back and attack the ALCU, but can you defend the Bush Administration's Patriot Act II? The Patriot Act II gets rid of sunset provisions in the Patriot Act I that were meant to expire, so we don't become the Soviet Union. Now Habeas Corpus is gone!
Maybe the ACLU hasn't done enough to protect our civil liberties, but maybe, just maybe the Bush Administration has done much too much to rob us of our civil liberties. Which is worse?...You tell me.
By the way.....Jewel is hot...Her teeth make her hotter....If she fixed them...She wouldn't be Jewel.....Stay hot baby!

Freek,

Just remember - if the ACLU has it's way, web sites like this won't be allowed because it aint PC to judge someone based on their looks.

As far as the Patriot Act goes - how many real, honest persons have been affected by it? How many wire taps on normal everyday conversations (if there are even any going on) have led to anything??

I have no problem w/ the Patriot Act (I or II) because, frankly, I'm like 99.9% of the people in the US and thus have nothing to hide or be afraid of the government learning about. Want to listen in on my phone calls? Go ahead - you'll find out what I like on my pizza and how much it cost. I got nothing to hide.

If that's the price I have to pay to make it tougher on the bad guys, - so be it. I got no problem with it. And neither should the vast, vast majority of Americans.

Benjamin Franklin:
They who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security

It is just the beginning.....What's next censorship on the media.....Oh ya the Judith Miller case was nothing.......Don't forget that the under pinnings of all this stuff is under basic law....Like the first amendment.....What if President Bush decided that he can now declare who is an "enemy combatant

More:
Clarence Darrow:
You can only protect your liberties in this world by protecting the other man's freedom. You can only be free if I am free.

Freedom and security do not have to mutually exclusive............Do you feel safer now that Saddam is in power? If you do you haven't been watching the news.

I agree on the political correctness stuff....Bit to far, but you can't discount the work of an entire organization, because you don't agree with one point......Plus there are tons of Jewish and Muslim American that are probably tired of being told Merry Christmas...Still annoying I agree.

This bitch sold out and turned pop to sell a few shitty records...her butt could be lined in gold and I wouldn't give her more than a 1 on a scale of 1 to 10!

Censorship sucks...all around for those people too damn stupid to police their own lives and leave others alone. My only exception...censor for those who can't defend themselves from pervs...like children, mentally ill etc...

Just like that PMRC crap...and state government telling people who can and can't have porn mailed to their homes. We just can't let them censor the internet...what a loss that would be...exercise your right to vote and get involved or this freedom will be history! *stepping down from soap box*... :|

Totally agree Angel. I just think the ACLU is against what you are saying far more than they are for it.

Civil liberties are good the ACLU is not. They are very selective in the liberties they defend, and even help erode liberties they don't agree with like the right to pray and bear arms. Unfortunately people are to polarized (republican/democrat) for objective independent thought. I, like Ben Franklin, do not want to give away liberty.

As for the Patriot Act who is right? If a 9/11 type attack is all that our enemies have then it encroaches on too many of our liberties. If our enemies have/acquire nuclear capability and can kill millions, then it is a necessary evil. What is the true threat level? We need to answer that before we can intelligently declare whether it is necessary or overreaching.

As for honest people having nothing to fear from the Patriot Act, remember when the government takes away liberties they seldom give them back, and often then apply their new power to other areas. For example the Clinton administration using the RICO acts against anti-abortionists. Whether you are pro/against abortion this was expanding governmental power beyond the RICO statute's intended uses. What will future administrations use the Patriot Act to do?

Be less partisan and more constructive, and perhaps, our elected leaders will be more accountable to the people they are supposed to serve.

Well said Anon. I will strive to be more partisan and see the world down the middle.....Unfortunately it is leadership like the Bush Administration that is so
polarizing at times.....I guess the same veiw could be expressed from the other
side.....It's hard, but I'll keep in mind.
