Antonella Barba says that she has no regrets about American Idol. She says that she plans on staying in LA to "strike while the iron is hot" and that doesn't include Playboy. When asked if she would be taking up an offer to pose for Playboy, Antonella responded, ""I definitely wouldn't do that. I don't want to be known for that." Source

Playboy only want her to boost their circulation a little. That's worth one shoot and maybe a return visit. If she was being cynical, she could use them to boost and/or extend her career. Have some tasteful pictures taken, that still afford her a modicum of modesty, and coin it in at the same time.
So she markets herself, and markets playboy, and she gets paid. G-e-t-s p-a-i-d. For being a flash in the pan social phenomenon! That's if she were being cynical...
