When Avril was called 'punk' (and I don't remember ever reading that SHE claimed to be punk) she was a teenager. And she is now a young married woman, so the fact she's grown up and matured since then doesn't mean she's "sold out" on her audience.

The cover quote ‘i always wear underwear’ is obviously a joke referencing the many flashes other female stars have given while wearing short skirts and no underwear (Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, etc).
