The NRA is not the problem here. In fact, the defeat of the bill to allow law-abiding, decent people to cary guns on campus means that EVERY person on that campus was at risk, unarmed and just waiting to be slaughtered.

Agreed, malren! If a couple of those students had been carrying, that shooter might have been stopped at 2-3 instead of 31-33 Lord knows my Glock .40 would have been put right between his fucking eyes.

I'd be willing to give up my right to own a gun if the possession of arms by any person, organization, or government body, for any purpose whatsoever within the United States were made unlawful by Constitutional amendment. The government would have to go first! For example, "No government having authority under this Constitution or under these United States, nor any person, shall possess or bear arms within the territory of the United States."

Maybe people being armed would've stopped him. Then again, maybe more people would've been hurt because everyone whipped out a gun and started shooting at the same time. There's always the danger of stray bullets and by-standers getting hurt when people open fire all at once: they call it contagious or reflexive shooting when cops do it.

I think the school and its security are more at fault, though. That place should've been on lockdown after he shot his first victims.

As soon as the first shots are fired there would be chaos. People would pull out weapons and fire at anyone they saw as threatening, which in this situation would be dozens of other students with guns.

Guns don't make people killers they just make the killing easier. A few years back a guy in the UK walked into a kindergarten with a machete and tried to kill the little kids before being chased off by passing drivers. If he had easy access to a gun it would have been a whole different story.

In any case what I write doesn't really matter as I'm not American and have never even seen a gun so it's all just personal opinion. Hope the guy who did this is being violated with a sharp stick in hell.

The investigation into this is still way to early so Mr Chubby isn't going to comment on it, but he does have a question about the headlines all the major news outlets are bandying about. Is this indeed "the worst mass slaying in US History"? Maybe on a university campus it is, but he's willing to bet several dozen American Indian tribes can cite massacres far worse than this one.

Yeah, I understand the whole gun thing from both sides. If someone else had one there would or could have been less deaths. But on the other hand, the thought of letting all Americans carry weapons around with them like they carry a cell phone would scare the crap outta me. I do believe that guns laws or not if someone wants to kill they WILL do it. But putting guns in the hands of everyone? I don't want to live in a world like that. Walking down a busy street knowing that everyone has a gun on them? Just doesn't seem right.
