ariel, the fight happened over a guy named Eric Rubin who was in Timbiriche with both of them and dating them both at the same time. Paulina now claims they fought over a microphone, but it was over eric.
Thalia was singing, Paulina pulled her microphone and Thalia started beating down Paulina. They started fist fighting and the audience thought it was part of the show - half screaming 'Thalia' and the other 'Paulina'. Since then, they both hate each other. There's a youtube video where Paulina talks about the fight - I think you can find it if you type in 'Timbiriche', but I haven't seen any actual footage of the fight posted yet.
Paulina later had public arguments with Alejandra Guzman and others over Eric. Alejandra told her she would pull out her blond hair if she saw her with Eric.
Why would anyone fight over this (it's the dude in mickey mouse shirt, the other guy is Ricky Martin in the 90's):
