junglegirl, thats not true. Look at angelina jolie's daughter Zahara, she looks very black. I live near the Little Ethiopia community and see alot of ethiopians and they all look obviously african. This girl just looks confusing...like european girl with african skin.

They must be Amharans then, they have features of typical Africans. The majority of Ethiopia is populated by the Oromos though, who to Ethiopia are like Native Americans are to America, and they don't look like typical African people. Liya is definitely not an unusual looking woman in that country. To some of us she might be because we don't see many Oromo Ethipians here but there are millions of them in Ethiopia who look like Liya.

get used to comments like these. anytime there is a beautiful woman of color, people always say "she must have some white in her" or "she looks white to me" (they say that all the time about aishwarya rai) when they dont realize that people in non-white countries aren't monolithic and there are many different types of beauty in non-white countries.

true, many of the famous women of color have "stereotypically" caucasian features but that doesnt mean that they are half-white or don't look their ethnicity. other races are just as diverse as the white race

I'm African too, the fact of the matter is, the average American sees only "white" people with stereotypical Caucasian features. In reality, those features are found all over the world, if one was to actually live in many countries. Indian, Asian, African and Native American people can have such features. At the end of the day though, she DOES have features similar to a "white" person. And that is what Ethiopians are known for.
