is there a particular reason why models are paid so much? very curious since they seem to do not much of anything.

I think it's the rare combo of pretty face and good body, along with being 5'9" or above. There are not that many girls out there who meet that criteria. As to why so much money, I don't know. It seems kind of crazy but I think you may compare to a sports star, like a famous soccer player, or in America, a football player.

but sports people do like actual physical activity. they train year round, and basically devote their lives to perfecting their craft. i wont say all models, but most, just have dna on their side. i dunno, i think beautiful women deserve praise and acknowledgment, but its just kind of insane that one woman can have so much money for being born a certain way and people are dying in the streets, ya know?

That's true but elite athletes also have DNA on their side. I do agree with you that yes, they seem to work much harder for their money.
I guess it's just that there is an incredible amount of money in the fashion/cosmetics industry as well and maybe the scale is a bit askew at times.

I went to HS with a girl that looked like GB, and i swear to God, none of the guys found her all that hot, she was not one of the "pretty" girls that the boys chased around. It's called charisma which she has, she moves product period. Most models would blow a horse to get to the top, and many have slept with key people and still didn't amount to much. Testino, Wintour, et el took a liking to her. Shit, she was on Vogue almost every month for a while. It's more than looks, Kate is no goddess but she sells, period. She also has good management around her, and ambition to work a lot. Many models just don't want to work 100 hour weeks so they take fewer jobs, Lima is a good example of this, as clearly she can work much more than she does.

models make a lot of money. I don't think they make that much compared to people in other professions (i.e. athletes, actors, entertainers), their income is pretty miniscule. Shaq had a $100 m contract with the heat for five years, that doesn't even include all his endorsements. Yea models have to be at the top of their game physicall and stand and sit in awkward positions for hours on end, but that's it really.
