The Alliance for Women in Media hosts The Gracies to celebrate "the realistic and faceted portrayal of women in entertainment, commercials, news, features and other programs." The event was hosted by The Office's Angela Kinsey, performance included The Voice's Vicci Martinez and Glee Project's Hannah McIalwain. Amongst the winners included Sarah Shahi, winning Outstanding Female Actor in a Breakthrough Role for Fairly Legal and Carrie Brownstein winning Outstanding Female Actor in a Supporting Role in a Comedy for IFC's Portlandia. "Living Proof," the Lifetime movie about the development of the breast cancer drug Herceptin, has assembled a cast that includes Angie Harmon, Amanda Bynes, Bernadette Peters and Swoosie Kurtz.
Also joining Harry Connick Jr. in the movie are Regina King, Jennifer Coolidge, Trudie Styler, Tammy Blanchard, John Benjamin Hickey and Paula Cale.
"Proof" is based on Robert Bazell's book and centers on Dennis Slamon (Connick), the UCLA doctor who developed Herceptin. The movie is set to air in October. [Reuters]
