What drew you to Valentine?
Lakin: I had been a fan of Kevin Murphy's for some time, having worked with him previously on Reefer Madness and of course from watching Desperate Housewives and Reaper so I was thrilled when I read the script for Valentine. I loved the sense of fantasy it had-the thought of Greek gods and goddesses living among us in the Hollywood hills enclave of Mt. Olympus, helping people find their soul mates, was an idea just outlandish enough to create drama, yet it's perfectly blended with Kevin's style of wit and sarcasm.... Source

Dog Sees God

Charles Schulz’s iconic Peanuts children become turbulent teenagers in contemporary America. Actually, these characters are close to Schulz’s, but use different names, because Bert V. Royal’s irresistible speculations are unauthorized by the Schulz estate. C.B. (Joseph Porter) ponders the death of his longtime pooch, his unexpected attraction to the now-loathed piano prodigy Beethoven (Wyatt Fenner) and the continuing metamorphoses of his sister (Andrea Bowen). The formerly blanket-addicted Van (Jaden Leigh) has found substitutes. Transformed Matt (Nick Ballard), whose story resembles that of Pigpen, has reacted to his past by becoming germ- and homo-phobic. Bowen, Lakin, Porter, et al. Set for L.A. Premiere of Dog Sees God

Nick Ballard, Andrea Bowen, Wyatt Fenner, Christine Lakin, Megan McNulty, Joseph Porter, and Lauren Robyne will star in the Havok Theatre Company's production of Bert V. Royal's Dog Sees God, May 31-July 6 at the Hudson Backstage Theatre. The production, which will open officially on June 6, will be directed by Nick DeGruccio.

An "unauthorized parody" of the famous Peanuts comic strip, the play concerns a character called CB, his drama-queen little sister, his pyromaniac ex-girlfriend, an abused pianist, two drunk cheerleaders, and a burnt-out Buddhist. The play won the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival's Excellence Award for Best Overall Production. [Theater Mania]
