So does the original Australian version have the daughter prancing around in short shorts or a bikini or other skimpy outfits throughout practically every scene of every episode? I've not watch a minute of this show but that's the assumption based on the photos we've posted of Selma Blair on set. Here's a thought, how about NBC coming up with more original ideas for sitcoms?

About the show:

Kath & Kim is an upcoming American version of the award-winning Australian television comedy series of the same name, which will debut as a Fall entry on NBC's primetime lineup on October 9, 2008, where it will air on Thursday nights. It will also air on Global in Canada;[1] the premiere dates in other parts of the world are not yet announced. The Australian version was created by its original stars, Jane Turner and Gina Riley, who will serve as executive producers and consultants on this version as well, which will be co-produced through Reveille Productions and Universal Media Studios. 'Kath & Kim' gets Americanized
The NBC comedy, based on an Australian show, tones down the snark and increases the mother-daughter drama.

"It's a sophisticated show about common people," Blair said. "She's like a lot of girls you see at the mall. I have a soft spot for her."

The Australian media, however, have been following the story with a less tender-hearted attitude. Their Defamer sniped that its chances of flopping were "a scientific inevitability." The Sydney Morning Herald also aired concerns. Source

Selma Blair Not Fit for 'Kath and Kim'?

Selma Blair proves just what actors will do to get in character. “Some bad things are happening underneath my clothing,” she revealed. She also referred to a little wobble that she's been experiencing.

“My character's really in a state of arrested development,” added Blair. “She's in her clothes from the seventh grade, and she thinks that's hot.” The actress also said that it's absolutely fine for her to shape up (or down) for the role. She even has to feast on fistfuls of Tiny Teddies and nachos to boast of her pudgy waistline. Source
