Just yesterday it was announced that her Sofia Vergara ABC comedy show "Modern Family" was picked up for another season. The popular show averaged 10.2 million viewers during it's fall run. Many congrats to the Colombian bombshell!

I wonder if the quote on the second pic is true. Anyway, here's what happened w/ Ms. Vergara in 2009:

In 2009, Vergara had a five-week stint on Broadway as "Mama" Morton in the revival of Chicago.
In November 2009, Vergara appeared as a guest on U.S. television talk show The View. During her appearance the women asked her how she handles looking so young and having an 18-year-old son. She then made a joke saying she can just say she was raped when she was thirteen, to explain why she looks so young. It was meant as reference to typical storylines in Spanish soap operas.[10] In the awkward video footage Vergara is seen laughing while host Whoopi Goldberg gasps in astonishment. [Source]

If you've seen ABC's Modern Family, you know that Sofia Vergara's character, Gloria, has a very thick accent. For those of you who didn't know, it's real.

Sure, it may seem specific to her character Gloria's outsized personality but Vergara says her accent is the real deal. "I go out to a mall or restaurant and when somebody hears me they'll go, 'Oh my God, it's your real accent,'" she says. "I tell them, 'Yeah, I guess I'm not that good an actress!'" Still, she admits, her comedic instincts may, at times, cause her to emphasize certain pronunciations. "I do make the accent a little stronger," she says. "I understand English; I read and write English perfectly, but the accent won't go away." Source>
